Following on from similar festivals that have gained widespread popularity across the world, the Prague Food Festival is a celebration of gastronomy, the culinary art of chefs and producers of food and drink, and a celebration of Prague and the architects, artists, musicians and designers who contribute to the beauty and attraction of the Czech capital.
Last year’s first ever PRAGUE FOOD FESTIVAL attracted as many as 8,000 visitors from the Czech Republic and abroad – despite the at times unfavourable weather. The second PRAGUE FOOD FESTIVAL is now under preparation.
At last year’s festival: Café Imperial consumed 100 kilograms of beef cheeks, Ambiente prepared 150 kg of meat on Saturday alone and Radisson SAS, Alcron sold 80kg of veal knees, 30kg of boletus and chanterelle mushrooms, 20kg of tuna, 10kg of tiger prawns and 700 mini desserts. A total of 5,000 litres of drinks were consumed.
Over the course of this three-day gastronomic event in June, visitors will be able to sample a variety of Czech, Brazilian, French, Japanese and Mediterranean specialties. About 30 TOP restaurants from Prague and the rest of the Czech Republic will be featured during the festival, alternating on a daily basis. Each day you can try out the delicacies served by 12 local restaurants known for their quality, professionalism and acclaimed chefs.
This untraditional gourmet event will be accompanied by specially selected music to harmonize with each restaurant. This year we will be paying much attention to specialist workshops, cookery shows with your chefs, wine-tastings, music and a children’s programme. Details of the programme will soon be released.
The festival will be held under the auspices of the Mayor of Prague, Dr. Pavel Bém, and the Prague 1 Borough.
